Marquis Foundation offers the best senior living in Vulcan County. All of our living options are customizable, and we provide a full range of services to accommodate everyone. Qualified staff are available 24-hours a day, 7-days a week to attend to all of our community members’ personal needs. We understand that additional assistance may be required, and that’s ok - it’s the reason we’re here! Additional Medical assistance is available upon request.
Peter Dawson Lodge
The Peter Dawson Lodge is a Senior Citizen's housing community in Vulcan. We have rooms available for 53 residents. Everyone is to be over the age of 65 and must be fairly independent. The Lodge offers 24 hour security, meals, housekeeping and entertainment. We are continually upgrading our lodge for health and safety reasons as well as for aesthetics and offers residents a very wonderful independent environment to live in.

Furnishings: Basic room furnishings (single bed/dressers) are provided as well as window coverings, linens and towels.

Housekeeping: Rooms are dusted, vacuumed and cleaned by regular housekeeping staff on a weekly basis.

We also offer a room for the night for out of town visiting family members.

Laundry Service: All residents are free to wash their personal laundry in the resident laundry room. In the case where a resident does not wish to do his/her own laundry, the lodge provides a laundry service for a fee.

If visitors would like to join a family member or friend for a meal, they may for a nominal fee.

Meals: The Lodge follows a five week rotating menu which has been approved by a certified dietician. We take pride in our home cooked meals. Family and friends are invited to attend meals.

Hair Care: A private hairdresser comes in to the Lodge and provides hair service to the Residents (women and men) one day a week.

Recreation: The Lodge provides a wide range of life enrichment activities to enhance the physical, emotional, social, spiritual and intellectual needs of Lodge residents.

Office and Mail Service: All residents are issued a Post Office box. Mail is picked up daily (Mon-Fri) at the Vulcan Post Office and sorted into Residents mail boxes. Out-going mail is delivered to the Vulcan Post Office on a daily basis. (Mon-Fri)

Security: The Lodge has non-medical staff on duty 24 hours per day.

Storage: Locker storage is available however it is somewhat limited.

Parking: Parking with plug-ins is available to Lodge Residents for a fee.

Maintenance: The Lodge has a full-time maintenance person to take care of any necessary repairs and maintenance from plumbing and heating problems to hanging pictures and accessories.

Consultation with local physicians, pharmacies and home care: Homecare administers a Medication Assistance Program in consultation with local Physicians and Pharmacies.

Medical Service: Medical services are available through Home Care. This service includes assisted bathing, and regular visits from a health nurse monthly. In addition, a foot doctor and hearing aid specialist make regular visits to the Lodge. Mental health counseling available.

PETER DAWSON LODGE APPLICATION
Admission process for the Peter Dawson Lodge:

A personal application form must be completed and returned to the Peter Dawson Lodge.

A medical form must be completed by a Medical Doctor and returned to the Lodge.

A personal interview must be conducted with Lodge Management. This is to give the applicant a chance to see the facility and to ask questions regarding its operation. The interview also gives Management an opportunity to determine whether or not the applicant should be accepted as a resident based on Lodge criteria. At the time of the interview, Management will priority rate the applicant and place the applicant on the waiting list in order of priority.

The first available room will be offered to the applicant who is deemed to be highest priority of those individuals on the waiting list.
Self Contained Housing
Our Self-Contained Housing Units are designed for individuals that are functionally independent and can look after their own needs.
Services include:
Units: All have their own bathroom and kitchen facilities as well as window coverings.
Parking: Parking with plug-ins is available to all tenants.
Interior Maintenance: A maintenance person is available to take care of any necessary interior and exterior repairs and maintenance.
Exterior Maintenance: Maintenance personnel is responsible to cut the grass during the spring and summer months and to remove snow in the winter months.

Rental Rates
Rental rates are based on 30% of the applicant’s total monthly income or current market rent. Income verifications are held each year to adjust rental rates as necessary. Tenants must pay for their own electricity. A security deposit is required. It is the responsibility of the Tenant to ensure his/her personal property is insured against damage or loss.
General Rules & Regulations
Tenants are not permitted to have pets or animals in their units. No structural or non-structural alterations (painting and papering, etc.) shall be done by the Tenant without prior consent from Management. The Tenant shall be responsible for damage due to negligence or willful misconduct. Tenants must not leave guests in charge of the premises or have guests stay longer than one week without prior permission from Management. Parking facilities are provided at the Tenant’s own risk.
SELF-CONTAINED HOUSING APPLICATION
General Criteria for Admission
It is the general policy of the Marquis Foundation to only accept seniors who are 65 years of age or older. All applicants must be physically and mentally able to look after their own needs including meals, laundry and house cleaning. Applications will be prioritized according to standard Government prioritizing forms. County of Vulcan residents will be given priority over non-County residents. Each application will be considered and accepted or rejected. Appeals may be made to the Marquis Foundation Board.
